Composite materials undergo various processing stages during production. Cutting plotters are utilized to cut raw fabrics, similar to how technical and clothing fabrics are cut.

Another category of machines for processing composite materials includes milling machines, which handle laminated and hardened materials. For spatial elements, five-axis milling machines are employed. These machines are used for creating models for laminating molds, and for cutting, perforating, and finishing laminated elements made from epoxy or polyester resins. Carbon composite machining is also feasible with such machines.

Machining can also be conducted on three-axis machines, particularly for cutting simple geometric shapes from pre-fabricated glass-epoxy or polyester laminates. In such cases, a three-axis machine, particularly an industrial-sized machine, is suitable.
